WebSolvers

Web Designer / Graphic Designer / Motion Graphics / Photography / Videography / Application Design

At WebSolvers, I get to put all of my talents and passions to the test. I was originally brought on as a web designer, however after they discovered my passion for films and my creative problem solving abilities, I found myself doing so much more!

I work with clients throughout the entire life cycle of a project, doing everything from building their brand to designing their website, building it out and creating on-going website enhancement strategies. I am an integral part of their team, technically and creatively.

While at WebSolvers, I worked closely with the company principal to create a software product called "Consulto," which has just recently launched. Consulto focus on providing professional services business-to-business clients (such as lawyers) with a way to create, manage and update their site. For this project, I did everything from develop the user experience to creating all of the graphics and interface components to doing all of the front-end development.

Another product I helped design was MetricPulse, a super-simple web analytics service aimed at making information easy to understand for considerably less tech-savvy professionals. I worked with my team to create, concept, design and build this product.

For both of these projects I did the branding, marketing sites and demo videos, putting my motion graphic skills to the test.

I have also been responsible for providing videography and photography services for our clients, creating testimonial videos and facilitating product photography.

In addition to all of this, I have successfully designed a dual desktop and iPhone application.

The most recent endeavors at WebSolvers include assisting to better position our firm to provide more offerings for branding, content strategy and audience development.

Arranging Pixels

Web Designer / Graphic Designer

At Arranging Pixels I worked as a graphic designer and web designer, facilitating website development for small to medium sized businesses, focusing on the niche market of real estate professionals. I would work with clients through the entire life cycle of a project: from concept to design, to build out and launch of their website. I was also responsible for creating a client's logo and brand positioning, ensuring their brand resonated throughout all of their communications collateral.

Arranging Pixels was interesting in that it had a software and service based product which shared a high-priority in my daily activites: Email Stationery, a digital stationery for use in email communication. My job was to design and develop custom email stationeries for both clients and customers, while also providing technical support to those who needed it.

I was asked to perform a redesign of EmailStationery.com, which I successfully completed. The primary challenge of this redesign was to reduce shopping cart abandonment; my secondary goal was to encourage customers to choose our more premium service.

I accomplished these goals by analyzing site metrics and, through an intterative design process and testing, formulated a design which made users feel more confident about purchasing our (premium) services. Within three months we saw a 75% increase in sales and only three dropped carts in that time. A final win for this project, was because I designed the site to encourage support requests instead of calling, we received dramatically fewer phone calls requesting support.

Valencia Community College

A.S. in Graphic Design, with a Specialization in Print Media

Studied design in High School. I was doing small projects for friends, and decided I should like to go to school for it.

At the time, web was just becoming what it is today, so while studying print design, I also began to study the principals of web design. I found that studying the design of user interaction with everyday things greatly aided in my ability to design for the web.

Other areas of study included architecture, art, advertising, user experience design and print making. I was also teaching myself to code XHTML/CSS.

Mentorship: Sig Anderson

Graphic Designer, Student

While in school, I was mentored under a retired 60 year old British designer named Sig Anderson. We met every week for design critiques on my current projects, both for clients and for school. He would also give me assignments to redesign, to his expectations; those were truly unique experiences.

He taught me everything I know about design; principals, theory and when things were rubbish.

I am thankful I had an opportunity to work with and learn from such a truly knowledgeable person. I owe my design sense to Mr. Anderson.
